The Spanish international joked in networks with the anecdote
Rodman went to Las Vegas for several days in 1998
The anecdote was recently explained in The Last Dance
Serge Ibaka posted a funny message this week on his Twitter account, saying that when normalcy returned he would try to copy Dennis Rodman and get a vacation in the style of the ex-Bulls enjoyed in Las Vegas in 1998.
Ibaka, like many others, enjoyed Rodman’s curious story in the recent episode of The Last Dance, the documentary about Michael Jordan broadcast by ESPN and Netflix. In the Bulls’ last ring season, Rodman asked Phil Jackson for a 48-hour “vacation” to regain motivation.
Rodman then failed to honor his part of the agreement and disappeared for several days without showing signs of life. Michael Jordan himself appeared in Las Vegas and almost had to bring Rodman by the ears, as the Chicago star tells.
Now it has been Ibaka who has wanted to joke with the anecdote, declaring that he will request a vacation from Nick Nurse, coach of the Toronto Raptors, to be able to attend Paris fashion week. Asked who would be the companion who would go looking for him, Ibaka is clear: “Masai Ujiri, surely,” he replied, laughing, referring to the GM of the franchise.
